Nina Lush...Fitness Inspiration
Socially known as Nina Lush a successor of transforming fitness into an idealistic lifestyle. Her social media is thoroughly inspirational and encourages one wanting to be on the same boat that if you put in the work the results shall surely come. At a time when we have eaten and drunk for the world after heavy December and come January one of the most popular resolutions usually involves shed weight and transform, so what better way than to be reminded it is possible no matter who you are.
Truly be inspired and motivated to be the change you desire…Enjoy the read.

You’re quite a fitness inspiration on Instagram for you share your journey of shedding weight. What made you decide to adapt your lifestyle into one that’s more health and fitness focused?
I was always into sports and fitness but in 2010 I injured my knee, which affected my physical activity for about a year. I then got comfortable , stopped working out and ate out all the time. Two years later, we went bungee jumping with some friends, and before the jump I needed to weigh myself. I was shocked to realize I had put on 22kgs and I was now weighing 82kgs. That day I decided things had to change, and I began with home based workouts like Billy Blanks and Taebo workouts but the results weren’t happening fast enough. Then I discovered about Insanity and began working out intensely, and on top of that gave up alcohol and developed better eating habits and soon after the results I sought for were now evident. My motto from then on was “Eat clean and train dirty”.

When you started your journey did you have an end goal in mind and have you since achieved your ideal body weight goal?
Yes it was to get back to 60kgs but after lots of research and understanding that because I lift heavy, I can then therefore be heavier but leaner. So I now gauge my ideal body shape through what I wear and its evident through my previous and recent pictures that there is change. My focus now is to have 15% or less body fat.

What have been the challenges you have faced as you shape up to being more fitness oriented than you once were?
The number one challenge was surrounding myself with people who understood my journey. I lost a lot of friends for my new ways of time well spent was doing fitness-oriented activities than just plain partying and drinking. Other challenges were of course the days you were too sore to work out the next day or just feeling lazy and wanting to eat pizza or fried chicken and be happy on the couch. I face those challenges to date but honestly they are what motivate me to push harder, keep to my routine, stay principled and focused.

What worked and helped you shape up?
Consistency is key! I found a workout regimen that worked for me and I have stuck to it. I never want to be fat again, so every day I make the effort to workout. I came to understand that fit is not a destination it is a journey. So I read more on fitness, what constitute as good foods, understood my body type and trained regardless.

People have to realize that no quick fixes, no diet programs, no waist trainers will get the long lasting results other than consistency. One mustn’t quit, but stick to the plan and change shall surely follow. Another thing I always say is nothing exciting ever happens within your comfort zone. So get out there and get uncomfortable. It will be worth it in the end.

If you were to do things all over again, what would you change?
I wouldn’t change anything. I mean the reason I am seeing results and keep seeing them is because I have learnt from my mistakes. Experience is the best teacher.

What have you learnt about yourself since embarking on a fitness journey?
I realized this is my PASSION! I love it. This fitness journey has opened a whole new chapter in my life that I know will take me places. Another hard lesson, is how hard staying fit can be and there is really no room for mediocre, for all you get is mediocre results. Working out clears my head and is the best stress reliever. I would want everyone to feel like this!

Now that 2017 is upon us, do you feel you can maintain your lifestyle? Also do you have any plans of capitalizing on being a fitness inspiration?
2017 is here and with it comes bigger and better goals. I was on vacation for a month and I still maintained consistency. This is my lifestyle and now my way of life, so this year is just another chance to be a better version of me. I am also in pursuit of a training certification, first one being an insanity based certification. I want to help people and make them feel the way I do. 2017 will be the year I am a master trainer in insanity.

What advice would you give someone whose main goal this year is to shed weight and adapt a healthier lifestyle?
I would advice an individual to first know their body type and I recommend the www.bodybuilding.com site that has a questionnaire that one can take, to help identify one’s body type. I insist on this because what works for me may not be what works for another. Second, people need to stop looking for quick fixes and just put in the work. Thirdly, the internet is a great tool and social media too, for sourcing out workout programs . Lastly stick to it until it becomes a habit and support it with drinking less, smoking less, avoiding artificial sugars and carbonated drinks. Swap them for more fruits and vegetables. When you clean up your nutrition the result will truly follow.

Lastly, kindly share with the CCL readers a motto/quote that encourages you and keeps you motivated.
“You either want to be fit or fat, you cannot have it both ways!”
Other favorites are: “Consistency is Key”
“Train insane or remain the same”
                                       “Sore today, Strong tomorrow”

When the going gets tough the tough gets going. It is our responsibility to actively work towards being better and when the change is a physical one, then it is important to tackle both how one eats and how active one gets those are the only two things required to succeed. Nina defied odds through continuous tireless efforts and in the end she understood that one does really enjoy the fruits of ones labour. So decide…commit…and surely you shall succeed.
