The New Year is here and the planning to make it great is
underway hope it’s the same for you!
I know I have been away for a hot minute and I won’t spend
time telling you the whys for they are just excuses, so instead I now choose to
share with you what taking a break has taught me as well as the greatest life
lessons I have learnt in 2017.
1. DON’T TAKE A BREAK
I have not written since May 2017 and honestly before I knew
it, it was already the beginning of the year. So I have learnt when you take a
break, you break routine and when you break routine, you break rhythm and worse
yet momentum. In the process your skills wear out and the fire of consistency
goes down. When you do eventually get back at it, you actually have to work
even harder at building a relationship you once hard with that which you broke
off a connection with.
When you take a break, in the end all you will feel is like
you’re losing a part of you. Best way to maintaining consistency, is ensuring
it fits easily within your schedule for nothing gets done if it feels like it’s
a chore. Lastly always remember you can never know what your consistency will
lead to.
2. REMIND YOURSELF THE WHY TO TOLERATE THE HOW
Before you embark on a journey or start doing a project it’s
important to ask yourself the question – Why? Why am I doing this? Why is it so
imperative I accomplish it? The answers become the anchor you need when the how
becomes challenging, difficult and at times extremely straining. When you know
the why then the how won’t matter for the vision of what you want at the end is
greater then the temporary advisory you may go through to get to the end
result.
Always remember perseverance will always pay!
3. EXCUSES ARE A
REASON TO KEEP DOING IT
I never understood this term until I became an example of
that very sentence. From it being seven months since I last posted a blog to
when I took more than a day break from regular exercise routine or when I
didn’t follow my daily schedule. For each one I had an excuse and before I knew
it, the excuses had become the new norm. So be careful that excuses don’t
normalize that which you have no business not doing.
I will end with this that life was not meant to be easy.
Easy only builds complacency while hardships build strength muscles, increases
our knowledge and often makes us grow exceedingly and beyond. And in the end
that which was hard will reward you greatly with opportunities that are even
greater than your wildest dreams.
Wishing you all a
Happy 2018.
May this be the year
where you end up as the best version of you.
